Recently my Launcher hasn't been working correctly. I tried to open it up but it just kept doing this (picture).
I've restarted my computer, and uninstalled the launcher and reinstalled it. When I reinstalled it it went through the usual downloading run time and unpacking native launcher loading screens, but as soon as they were done it didn't open the launcher when I specified it to, and opening it just returned to the problem.

Alt Tabbing has the same problem, it shows that it's open but when I switch to it nothing happens, same with clicking it in the taskbar and double clicking it in the task manager

Ok, so I did use a symbolic link program (Link Shell) and had forgotten about it. Since then, I've deleted the .minecraft file from the %appdata%\Roaming folder and from the other drive I was using (and created a back up on my desktop). I uninstalled the Minecraft launcher reinstalled it, and rebooted my computer, but I'm still getting the same problem, it just hangs there. I've tried installing Minecraft to it the location it chooses by default and installing it to the drive I actually want to use, and it the problem persists

And I'm also very confused because just two days earlier it was working fine. Last night the only thing I did was close down an instance of minecraft I had left running all day, and launch the Tekkit launcher but I didn't download or play any modpacks.

Update: The old launcher works, and I can run the game just fine. I'm not sure if I would call the issue resolved, but I've used this launcher the most and would be fine with using it again.

Any ideas on what the issue is?
Does it show up when you hold ALT + TAB? What if you click on its icon in the taskbar?
