I've actually been having this problem since I got the new launcher. I open Minecraft, log in, and try to press play. It works, I get the game to come up with the crafting table icon in the toolbar and what have you, but then it just stops responding at the Mojang logo.
I still have the option to exit out of the window, so I do. I get this message upon doing so:
I hit close the program and it takes me back to the launcher, telling me it crashed. I have no mods installed and I have none of the programs that would interfere with Minecraft off of the programs list here in the forums. I've done a repair via the download from the Minecraft/Mojang website, and I've even completely removed the program through that as well. I'm not sure what to do at this point; it's unplayable.
Edit: I have also deleted all of my .minecraft file as well, and it didn't help anything.
