So I am thinking about starting a pixelmon server after being addicted to it the past week. I have looked everywhere and the only way I found to host and play pixelmon is with forge. I played on a server called "pokefind" and was able to connect without using a forge client so clearly there must be a way to host this without forge?
I try connecting to it with my normal client and it says I need forge, when I use forge the pixelmon mod doesnt load and constantly crashes.
Just curious how these servers are hosting pixelmon without needing forge. I would love to start working on a server but this is the big block I currently have.

They might have been using a plugin that tries to emulate pixelmon without it being pixelmon
If you want to have a modded server, you both need forge with pixelmon installed
