Ah yes, this is a long and complicated problem that will take quite a bit of explaining, but I think I can do it in a fairly brief manner. Several months ago, I decided to get the Curse launcher after learning that I could create my own mod pack by picking and choosing what mods I wanted to use for modded Minecraft. I made an account, and the launcher was downloaded. I enjoyed using it, but there were two main problems. First, Curse was beginning to work with Twitch to gradually integrate with them, and I could choose to convert my account to a Twitch account, which I didn't really want to do. The other problem was that there was an odd glitch where once I launched a pack once, if I tried to make a new one or change packs, the second wouldn't load. The latter issue forced me to be careful with how I decided what packs to play with, but it wasn't too much of an issue besides that. Because my computer was having issues, I decided to delete the Curse launcher(along with FTB) and then reinstall it after those issues were dealt with. This proved to be a big mistake on my part. When I felt my computer was ready, I decided to go to the Curse website to reinstall. Unfortunately, I was forced to convert to Twitch at that point. That worked, but when I tried to download the new Twitch Client, it told me the following, "Curse has powered up and become the Twitch App! Please uninstall Curse and then try running Twitch setup again." I was aggravated because I had not only deleted but recycled those files from the Recycle Bin, and now I was being told that I still had to uninstall something that was completely gone. To make things worse, the FTB launcher has now integrated with Curse which has integrated with Twitch. So I can't get those packs either. What am I getting wrong? Thank you for your feedback!
I know, right? But everything's working for me now! I followed those steps, and it turns out Curse was still installed on my computer. Thank you so much!
Man, that's awful. I was worried I'd have to do the same thing with Crash Landing, which is my dad's favorite mod pack, and for whatever mods I wanted to use. That would require hours of time that I didn't have because of school.
But seriously, it seems to me that whenever something works okay, and people want better, the new thing ends up being harder to use or just plain inconvenient. I guess it's just human nature to want something better than the best, so to speak, if you know what I mean. And as for Linux, there goes all my desire to use it over Windows. xD
I like Tekkit okay, but most packs on Tekkit are the same to me for some reason or they don't work too well. I need to update Java for ATLauncher, but I like my setup now better anyway.
Yeah, I like a good challenge. Crash Landing is a good example of a challenge that is fun and rewarding at the same time. Blood and Bones, for example, became difficult to the point of agony in my opinion after several updates. Everything was overpowered to an extreme; some mobs even being able to mine blocks! I died many times because they broke into what little a base I could make.
It's working! I tested FTB Lite first to make sure the client would download packs, and then I downloaded Crash Landings. Sure enough, both work!
