Hi, it appears that when I start the minecraft launcher, it opens, and crashes while displaying the Mojang logo, displaying this crash report:
The game crashed whilst initializing game
Error: byu: Unable to fit: minecraft:blocks/lava_flow - size: 32x32 - Maybe try a lowerresolution resourcepack?
I tried changing the resource pack, but that didn't help.
I asked the manager of a server that I like to play on, and he told me to delete .minecraft, and backup my important files, then re-install minecraft, which I did. I tried playing after that, but it still did the same thing. It has been happening for two days and it hasn't fixed itself on its own. Can anyone help me fix Minecraft? Thanks
Sounds like your GPU just can't handle textures that large. I would definitely try a lower resolution texture pack or none at all. Remove it from the resourcepacks directory and see if that fixes it.
options.txt is the configuration for Optifine and it will not exist if Optifine is not installed.

Incorrect. options.txt exists even if you are using unmodified Minecraft. This is where Minecraft keeps all of the settings. It seems like when OP deleted his .minecraft folder, his game crashed before it could create an options.txt file.
Maybe you could try using a different launcher such as MultiMC.

My bad, you're right. I was mistaken with the Optifine variant. Also, this wouldn't be related to the launcher. The game would work on the launcher provided by Mojang regardless.
Ri5ux I tried running Minecraft with no resourcepacks in the folder, but the same problem persisted.
Have you updated your graphics drivers recently? They may be out of date. Drivers can certainly be a cause of this. Another cause if you're running the game on integrated graphics: if your system is out of RAM, then the GPU cannot allocate enough VRAM to the game, and thus cause the provided error.

Try deleting the options.txt file located in your .minecraft folder, and see if that fixes it.

The options.txt isn't in .minecraft
It's right in .minecraft. If you don't believe me, type in FIle Explorer: "%AppData%\.minecraft\options.txt" and it will open right up.
I tried that, it says the options.txt file doesn't exist

EDIT: I was already corrected. I was confused with optionsof.txt.

Curse PremiumDid you completely remove the resource packs in .minecraft/resourcepacks?
List your system specs so we have a good idea of what we're working with.
