Straight to the point - I am getting unusually low fps for a machine this powerful
Windows 10 Pro
GTX 1060
16 GB of RAM
I know this is vanilla, but I attempted to install OptiFine to resolve the issue. Still getting 80 - 130 fps. As a reference, my friend who owns a macbook pro runs minecraft at 150-200 easily. I have tried dedicating more ram, and checked max framrate and v-sync but problem continues. I get much better fps on ultra settings on other games. Please help.
Sorry forgot, I have an i7 processor
EDIT: Thanks everyone who helped. It was because my minecraft was running on the integrated graphics card. After switching, I'm getting 300-400 fps. Again thank you so much.
It's not using discreet GTX 1060. Make sure your laptop actually has a GTX 1060 in it, and if it does, install the drivers for it. It's currently running off of the integrated chip.

Open Control Panel > Hardware And Sound > Power Options > Show additional plans > High Performance
Might help
Also if you can't find Control Panel
Settings > System > Power and Sleep > Additional Power settings > Show Additional Plans > High Performance
