Last summer I bought an inexpensive laptop for my daughter, From day 1 the machine was a disappointment. The hard drive is slow as hell, and it was sluggish out of the box running Windows 10.
But the biggest disappointment was the machine refused to run Minecraft properly. From the start screen (choose single/multiplayer or Realms) the video chugs away at 1FPS and the mouse barely tracks how you move. I'm not a TOTAL computer dunce, so I tried different versions of Java, as well as looking into the settings for the onboard Geforce 960 card the laptop shipped with. But, I can't seem to resolve the problem. I'd actually given up for months, but today my daughter showed interest in coming back to Minecraft and I'm making one more effort to straighten things out for her.
All Acer support will tell me is reset the box to factory, which is pointless because it _WAS_ factory fresh when I first installed Minecraft. I'm hoping that this forum community can give better advice. Please, tell me what you can.
Hmm... the graphics card in the laptop isn't the absolute best, but it should be able to run Minecraft no problem, so I'm not sure why your computer would run it that slowly.
Have you tried turning down the video settings in Minecraft? Minimum settings should improve performance.
I've turned everything down as low as it can go. I also tried Optifine but that did not help. Like you said, a 2016 laptop, even a crap one like I apparently bought shouldn't be choking and wheezing to run vanilla Minecraft.
