So correct me if this isn't right, but what I need to do I log on with optifine, turn up antialiasing, log off Minecraft, log back on with optifine, and it should be fixed?
What you're asking could be compared to asking "Why is my screen resolution not unlimited?", or "Why isn't my Minecraft photo-realistic?". It's a graphics limitation, not a bug. All you can do is upgrade your graphics card and increase your Anti-Aliasing.

Help!?
Can you take a screenshot? You could be referring to several things.
Why am I here
This is what it looks like
Are you using Optifine? What you're referring to is either anti-aliasing, or a lack of it.
Why am I here
Yes I do use optifine, but this issue exists in all versions, optifine or not
turn up anti-aliasing
Why am I here
I turned it up, restarted game on non optifine version, problem still there. Do I need to turn it up and restart game, then log back on with optifine?
there is no anti-aliasing on non optifine, it's an optifine feature

Nope. Tried every antialiasing setting, nothin. Maybe a little better, but it's definitely still there
That is something called "aliasing". To solve it, you can use a method known as "anti-aliasing".
Your GPU might not support the anti-aliasing method OptiFine uses. What GPU do you have?
Its a Radeon RX 480. Pretty good card, brand new too
I also have an RX 480 and I've noticed terrible anti-aliasing in many games, not just Minecraft. I think it's likely due to the card or the drivers.
So what do you suggest? Also, the issue existed before I got this new card.
In optifine, set antialiasin to higher

I have. I've changed it to every single setting and it is still there.
would updating to the latest version of optifine help?

so basically, I'm stuck with this issue forever?
Yes, unless you can get better specs to increase your Anti-Aliasing.
