The game hasn't been performing all that well for me lately. Everything seemed to work just fine not that long ago, so I have no idea what the problem might be.
I've tried deleting my .minecraft folder and then running the game with nothing more than Forge, Optifine, Fastcraft and BetterFPS installed (Stuff that wouldn't cause any issues in the past) but still experience some significant lag. The performance drop isn't very noticeable until I start building. The more I alter my surroundings, the worse things get.
- Frame drops (35-45 in the worst of cases) Down from the usual ~60 FPS.
- Even with no mods installed and the game running at 100+ FPS everything is slow... Somehow.
The camera movements are slower than usual. Sometimes it takes a bit to catch up with my mouse movements. There's also a slight delay when dragging item stacks across a crafting table, and if I click around too fast when moving stuff around my inventory there'll be times when it won't register the clicks to pick things up/put them down. Sorry if I'm not making much sense here. I don't really know how I can explain myself any better.
- Lastly: My laptop overheats a ton. Feels like I could fry an egg on it.
Two weeks ago everything was working fine though, so I don't think it's my PC specs causing the problems. I also doubt it's due to stuff like viruses or malware. The only browsing I've done on this computer has been to download a few minecraft mods.
If the laptop's overheating you're probably experiencing CPU/GPU throttling (a technique used to prevent hardware damage without shutting down the system). Your REAL issue is: why is the computer heating up so much?

This makes a lot of sense. I only noticed this while playing Minecraft so I attributed the overheating to the game and its issues and not the other way around. I feel like a real idiot now.
I'll be taking my PC for a checkup. Thanks for the help.
Edit: I did manage to identify two things that were accentuating the issue though. They're not the source of the problem, but they played their part.
The first were my java settings. My PC has 8 gigs of ram so I set Minecraft to use a max of 4 gigs. The remaining 4 were to be used exclusively for system operations. I read somewhere that java is a resource hog though, so I dropped that amount to 2 gigs. Surprisingly enough this made the game run a bit better.
However the bigger (and most puzzling) one was... The Growthcraft mod for 1.7.10. It's very taxing for some reason; even with no other mods running alongside it.
A real shame since I absolutely adore its wine making system and the blocks that come with it.
Just thought I'd leave that last bit of info there, in case it proves useful to anyone.

Because allocating more RAM just makes the freezes longer but less frequent, AKA worse

Hi, all.
Anyway, I've generated a log file and copied all the errors: http://paste.ubuntu.com/24474473/
I added the following mods when generating the log file (To be more thorough):
1.7.10 - BetterFps
1.7.10 - CocoaCraft
1.7.10 - Code Chicken Core
1.7.10 - Enchanting Plus
1.7.10 - Experience Ore
1.7.10 - FastCraft
1.7.10 - GrowthCraft Edited
1.7.10 - Little Maid Mob Enhanced
1.7.10 - Llibrary
1.7.10 - MC+ ModPack - v3
1.7.10 - More Bows1.7.10 - More Crafting Recipes
1.7.10 - Not Enough Items
1.7.10 - OptiFine
1.7.10 - Oreganics
Would somebody please explain all this to me? I'm very lost here.
P.S.
Dunno if this will be of any help, but here's some additional info:
I am using Minecraft version 1.7.10 and running the latest releases of Forge and Optifine.
My operating system is Windows 7 (x64) and have only one version of Java installed (jre1.8.0_131)
What do you define as bad performance?

I'm just very, very confused about all this.
