I've been searching everywhere for a solution and can't come up with anything.
When I launch minecraft everything is fine.
When I enter a multiplayer server everything is fine
When I launch a single player game (pre existing world or new world with any settings) the game starts loading the map and says "Loading World - Building Terrain" and then switches to displaying "0%" and stays there.
Occasionally it will not change to the "0%" and simply stay on the "Loading World -Building Terrain" text
Half the time the game freezes and says "not responding", the other half the time it will just stay on that screen for an eternity only "not responding" after you try to exit out.
Here is what I have tried multiple times:
Turning on/off computer
Allocating more ram 2 - 8GB
Changing all graphics settings such as loading chunks, fancy, view bobbing etc.
Uninstalling reinstalling Minecraft
Uninstalling reinstalling Java (7/8 and 32/64 bit)
Changing the Java Executable manually to 32/64 bit
I've updated my graphics drivers
Videos online have suggested to join a multiplayer game, then change my settings for the graphics in there, and then trying to load up or start a new single player game - doesn't work
Loading the latest snapshot version of minecraft instead of vanilla 1.11.2
Task Manager "end process javaw.exe"
Crying, swearing, yelling at computer, and praying to several gods including Notch himself (not in that order) has not solved the issue either.
I've been playing since alpha and never ran into any issue and have been playing vanilla minecraft just fine recently until yesterday when I turned it on and nothing worked. I feel like the only way to play this game now is to use another computer which I don't exactly have at my disposal.

Thank you to anyone and everyone that helps. I've been pulling my hair out trying to play this game.
And of course it was that easy. Honestly didn't think it would work because I've not had any issues with the launcher until now. Also I didn't think a game launcher could affect the playability of a game so badly. But hey if it works I'm not one to complain. Thanks mate!
