I found an old jar of Classic; tried to load it in the launcher, not knowing it was classic at the time, and it didn't work. Is there any method of loading a classic jar? I've searched everywhere and I haven't seen any way. If there's not, If someone could write some code to do this task, that would be great.
I did this in the launcher. After clicking play and waiting a whole hour, it never loads the game, nor does it give a log, even though I turned logs on. So, I need a way to play classic without the launcher.
Okay, thanks. I managed to spin together a little launcher made in HTML and JS (and java of course) but it's not working. The applet won't show in internet explorer (the only remaining browser that supports the applet tag) even though I have java installed. I just need help with that part, then it should be smooth sailing from there. Thanks for the tip, as I have Java 8 installed, but oddly no applets work lol.

In the launcher you can set the version you want to play, and you can select up to alpha

Keep in mind you need to use Java 7/6 as Java 8 doesnt work with older versions

Because applets are insecure so they are disabled in all browsers

It was working in IE earlier, but oddly, they don't work now. Even in Java 7.
Edit: I think it must just be my computer. Going to test it elsewhere...
