I recently spent quite some time traveling to my Woodland Mansion, and eventually decided to teleport. After doing so, I set my game back to Survival, and to Normal mode, and entered the mansion. It was filled with regular mobs, but there are no Illagers to be found. I checked every room, and used Spectator Mode to see through walls to every room, too.
Why aren't there any Illagers here? Do some mansions just not spawn any - am I having really bad luck? Worst comes to worst I'll spawn them myself, but I'm curious why they aren't here. Thank You.
UPDATE: Just spawned them around the mansion myself in creative. Went back to the entrance, switched back to Survival, and re-entered the mansion....they all disappeared. I assumed that they only disappeared in Survival for some reason, but when I spawned one in creative right in front of me, then switched back to survival, it didn't disappear, and began attacking me. So they only disappear when in the mansion in survival? I'm so confused.
This is because they only spawn when a Mansion is generated. Since you were likely on peaceful when you arrived, they despawned, therefore will not come back. Next time if you find Woodland Mansion, be sure to have a difficulty on, otherwise they will get removed as well. You could probably find more info about Mansions, Evokers and Illagers on the minecraft wiki.
It took me 1 hour and a half to travel to my woodland mansion only to discover there are no Illagers of any sort. I thought it was because I must of destroyed something to make them not spawn, but later i traveled to another woodland mansion and this time I didn't destroy anything but there were still no Illagers =(. Can someone please tell me what to do, I want the totem of undying. P.S: I did not use any command,cheat or TP. I dont even have cheats on.
If you started the game on peaceful I imagine it would affect any mansions on the map.
I, however, am having a separate issue.
Somehow, upon death near an evoker, items dropped seem to magically vanish after some Vex are summoned. This happened to my brother in a separate mansion as well. Is it possible that Vex will pick things up? My friend and I got there long before the 5 minute timer and the majority of my diamond armor set vanished along with a map and other important items. Thankfully I was able to save my sword and helmet but a lot of items vanished. If it happened twice there's no way this is coincidence but nothing I've found on Vexes or Evokers seems to imply that they steal things. I doubt they decide to put curses of vanishing on random items on the floor. And I know they didn't already have said curses because I crafted them myself or bought them from the villagers around my home.
Perhaps you're better off with some already empty mansions. Less hassle.
