I just tried to download the official minecraft java client for linux from minecraft.net
But my chrome browser (up to date) blocked it and claimed it might be infected.
Chrome blocks any executable file that is not signed(so most .jars and some .exe), you have to allow it from the download menu(Ctrl+J)

Thats odd, because it did not do that in the past, what changed?
It did do it in the past, around 2 years IIRC. Make sure you are downloading it from minecraft.net too
Yea its the right site and https certifications are fine
the link downloads the jar file from amazon's servers (if i remember correctly its hosted there for ages)
