So, I've been playing on this server for a while now, and it recently (within the last 5 or so months) went to modded. My computer can handled modded just fine, but these last couple weeks, all of a sudden, it's just given up I guess. I can load minecraft like normal, load the server just fine, then within like 30 seconds of moving semi-fine (not quite as fine as normal, but tolerable), it suddenly drops to like 0-1 FPS, but not crashing or freezing. It takes 15 whole seconds for the thing to register that my mouse is not, in fact, on the "back to game" button when I hit escape, and another 15 seconds to register that my mouse is now back onto that button. It's on my side, not server side, because nobody else on the server is having this problem. I've tried googling, tried talking to the server owner, tried talking to my computer techy friend, tried numerous things, but nothing seems to help. I can't just click quit, unless I want to wait FOREVER. I have to physically force it to close with task manager. And if I do click quit, then it works just fine once I hit the menu screen. At first, it would crash after like 5-10 minutes, but now it's not crashing anymore without me forcing it, so I can't provide a crash report.
Things I've tried (with minecraft specifically):
~Uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft
~Removing and redownloading all the mods on the server
~Removing all the configs and letting the game recreate them
~Play with the settings to try to improve performance
~Test in vanilla singleplayer (which it works more than fine in)
~Test in forge singleplayer (which it also works fine in)
~Test in forge singleplayer with a few mods (which it works fine in)
~Test with my texture pack in the above three scenarios.
~Have another admin teleport me away from where I was when I come onto the server to see if it's just my computer overloaded from the nearby zombie farm (which didn't help).
Things I've tried (with my computer):
~Restarting my computer (numerous times).
~Defrag (nothing could be done there)
~Disk Cleanup (removed over 3 GB of things with no luck)
~Check disk on main drive
~Check the size of my paging file
~Check for any windows updates (and update/install them)
~Check for java updates (which there were none)
~Check my graphics card
~Close everything outside of minecraft that I could and just run minecraft
Information:
~I play on the Live To Die server, which has 51 mods installed (on my side), and running them was no problem before.
~I'm using that LATEST version of forge 1.7.10 for this
~My computer is on the Windows 10 update, 64 bit.
~I have 8 GB of ram on my computer.
~The profile I use for the server is set to use 4 GB of ram at a time.
~My computer has no problem running the more graphic heavy games such as sims 3, sims 4, Oxygen Not Included...
~There's a method to my madness and some madness to my method~
