I am running the game on a Windows 10 Surface Book, just a few months old (in other words, there's nothing physically wrong with the device). As the image attached should display, I'm experiencing very low FPS in game, that is, both with the default 1GB Java parameters and even switching to 3GB maximum, 1GB forced. Both yield results that are virtually no different from one another (I can't tell a difference in the slightest). What could be causing this issue? I made sure that Java was updated and tried using the newest version of java's javaw.exe instead, but alas - no change in performance. I also used compatibility mode for windows 7, trying the same with both java parameter settings. Could this be due to the High dpi screen?

Using another PC or not having it at 4k, and it still wouldnt run well. Surface pros are not for gaming

ALSO - I actually mean a Surface Book... The computer that's more like a laptop than a tablet... I don't see why it can't be configured to allow better FPS :/
(So not a surface Pro, even though I originally said that, misleadingly.)

4K resolution on integrated (mobile) graphics, that's actually MUCH higher performance than I would expect.
Installing Optiifine might boost it slightly.

They are telling you your issue. You are trying to run at 4K in a integrated gpu, thats not going to work well

I understand... I mentioned this. I meant is there any way to possibly reduce the lag? I was primarily asking about how not why.

Because the issue is hardware, not software. The grahpics card is not nearly powerful enough for games in 4K
