So I have recently become a fan of minecraft. I had messed around with pocket edition in the past but recently I've not only got the console version for PS4 but also the PC version so that I can experience the latest versions of Minecraft when they come out. However I have noticed one stark difference between the two of them. Either I'm doing something very wrong or the PC version of Survival is VERY unforgiving. In the PS4 version I can save my game at any time. The button literally says "SAVE GAME" and I can go about my business. If I fall into Lava I get the option "Save and exit" or "Exit without saving" I usually pick "Exit without saving" and load my last save. BAM good as new! However as I recently learned about 15 min ago) its not quite the same on PC. I lost a full set on Iron Armor, 1 Sword, 2 Pickaxe, and a Shield. Not to mention 20 levels. Although this is a minor setback for me it is annoying. I chose the "Exit to title" option and loaded the save only to see that I was still swimming at the bottom of the lava pool. This forced me to respawn! Now I know for all the Minecraft Veterans here, you must find this to be a very noob question. But seriously guys, coming from the PS4 version, that was a slap in the face for me.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong here. Is Survival on PC just that hardcore or am I noob that doesn't even know how to save and load properly???
There is no "exit without saving" option on pc. You either play more carefully, reduce the difficulty, cheat or manually backup your world anytime you face a greater challenge so you can restore before bad things happen.
Go in the saves folder of your C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft . Then copy-paste it anywhere. If you done something which is bad, delete your world and put the backup at the same place.
Thank you for that! This seems like the closest thing that I will get to "Save and Exit" and if it basically works the same, thats close enough for me! Thank you again!

How do I go about manually backing up the data?
