My friends and I are running a private server, version 1.8.9, forge 11.15.1.1722. We’ve got a LOT of mods on it. The full list is:[/p]
BiblioCraft v2.0.0
BiomesOPlenty (1.8.9-3.0.0.2004-universal)
CustomMobSpawner 3.6.0
CustomNpcs 1.8.9 (29oct16)
DrZhark's Mo'Creatures Mod 8.2.2
Loot++-1.7.1 for Minecraft 1.8.9
ffQuiver mod by forge-1.8.9-1.1
Pam's HarvestCraft 1.8.9d
So the java-free launcher came out and we couldn’t use anything modded anymore. We downloaded the legacy launcher so we could still run our mods like we could before. I’m on a Mac, and it’s been okay but a bit laggy for me since then. But my friends are running it on Windows, and it’s just gotten worse and worse since the update. The lag is really bad now. No error logs per se at the moment cuz it just got laggy. I’ll update this with more info on their systems and specs as I get it.[/p]
We’ve all updated to the latest versions of Java (1.8). But my launcher log still says "[20:34:29 INFO]: System.getProperty('java.version') == ‘1.6.0_65’”, I don’t know if that’s related.[/p]
Does anyone know what might be going on? Any way to fix the horrid lag?[/p]
Firstly, it might be worth exploring Optifine or such fps enhancement mods.
Anyway, experience with the DrZhark's Mo'Creatures has at least shown me that it's a bit buggy and can cause a lot of spawning issues - especially in modded biomes - which is ultimately spamming too many entities in an area and causing lag and issues. Though I'm quite sure that isn't something to quote me on completely there, as I was using a lot of mods that might have affected Mo'Creatures negatively.
I'm willing to bet that it's always possible that everyone's computers are ageing, and if not then slowing down. It's either that or the above issue, or maybe something else entirely.
One thing that I'm almost certain it's not is the launcher. Yes, the launcher is Java free now, but that doesn't really affect anything. In fact, it's helped to optimise a lot.
