I went to my minecraft launcher and set it to allocate 8gb of RAM. When I was playing on my world I noticed that it was lagging just as much as before so I pressed F3. At the top it said "used memory: 20% (1701mb) of 8179mb" meaning that it's SUPPOSED to be allocating 8gb but right below that it says "allocated memory: 35% (2916mb). To me, this looks everything but normal but I'll admit that I'm also not the greatest with technology. I'll add a screenshot of what it shows when i press F3 for those of you who know more than me.

Well I can say it depends on how many mods you have, and if you use the correct Javaw.exe file. I play on 1.7.10, and I give it 2gb minimum with 140 mods. It runs smooth with 80-100 fps, also if you go to advance options in the minecraft launcher and change the javaw.exe file path from the minecraft folder to where you installed JAVA (64-bit), example below.
Also, make sure you have mods like fastcraft or optifine, (I prefer fastcraft) and just configure/optimize your settings to a comfortable set for faster fps and graphics. If you have a graphics card, like amd or nivida, give the cpu power to 80-100% and configure/optimize settings in the graphic card options (which I did and it helps with fps). Giving minecraft 8gb of ram with mods does kinda leak and over use the ram it actually needs (from which I learned).
I have 39 mods right now but I don't have optifine or fastcraft. I tried installing optifine but it made game crash before while it was launching but I've never actually heard of fastcraft. I think I'll give it a try later. Btw, the texture pack is called natural beauty.

Btw, what texture pack is that, if you don't mind me asking?
