Hello, i have problem to init minecraft launcher in Linux(Ubuntu 16.10).

Why 1.8 insterad of 1.8.9 or 1.8.1 or 1.11.2??

Because bugs like this get fixed in later versions and the new launcher might be changed for X version and as they dont advertise backwards compatiblity, break something, and mostly only the latest versions of the 1.x get update(so latest of 1.7(1.7.10), 1.8(1.8.9), 1.9, etc),
