I tried to start up minecraft today and it failed to launch, and stopped responding. A crash report never showed up, and I had to force-stop minecraft. I went into my .minecraft folder to see if I could find the problem, and there were only 3 files in it. They went in this order.
Assets
launcher_log
launcher_profiles.json
This was it. There was no save folder, or mods folder, or resourcepacks folder or anything like that, just those 3 i stated above.
If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it, and I am willing to do anything at this point. Thanks

Open the installer (or download it again if you deleted it) and select "repair".
I have tried this, and also deleted the .minecraft folder entirely and re-downloaded it, and it just downloaded with these 3 folders in it like before
