So i bought minecraft in around 2012 and I didn't play from then (I know, it is a long time). And today I just wanted to go back and see what minecraft was still like. When I tried logging in it said "Can't connect to minecraft.net". So I restarted my modem and did almost everything on the internet. Finally, I uninstalled minecraft and got it again, which worked.
(I used [windows key] + R. Then typed in "appdata". After I found .minecraft (file) in Roaming. Then i right clicked the .minecraft file to delete it. After I went to minecraft.net to re-download it with my profile).
After about an hour I stopped, shut down my computer and ate dinner and what not. After all that I went back to minecraft but the same problem happened again. I just sighed and uninstalled minecraft, then installed it again. But this time that didn't work either as I couldn't even go into minecraft in the first place. I double-clicked the shortcut, but nothing would happen. So (I don't know if this was the right thing or not) I deleted minecraft and installed it again. Unfortunately, it didn't work again. After a few times, when I tried to delete it, the .minecraft (file) said that it couldn't delete it as one of the files was open in another program.
So instead, I deleted all of the files that I could inside the .minecraft. In the end only one file remained which I couldn't delete. It was called "launcher log"
(I was going to add a spoiler showing the log but it went past the character limit of 120,000)
This launcher log file is the only file which i cant delete, making it so that I cant delete minecraft from my computer, to then reinstalling it. So here I am stuck in a loophole - I can't open minecraft, making the launcher log impossible to delete (it said its running in a different program, preventing me from deleting it) and if I can't delete the launcher, then I can't reinstall minecraft. I understand that this file is one of the main files of minecraft, but I still don't understand why I can't delete it when I'm pretty sure there are no other programs to possibly open it.
I use the wizard setup to install, repair and delete minecraft.
To me, I think the only way to play minecraft is to pay for it again with a new account. But I don't want to buy something I already have, and to me it isn't worth the money at this point. If there is a solution, great, but if there isn't, I'm not a die heart fan of minecraft so it is what it is.
Thank you so much for reading this far and hopefully you can help me or at least suggest a few things on what I should do. And I also understand that I may have done somethings wrong making this all my own fault. Which is totally fine to me because there is only myself to blame. But if I did make a mistake, please point it out so I won't do it again in the future. Thanks and have a great day!
