I can't log into the Minecraft website, or the application (on a mac) itself. When on the website it says "An error prevented your request from being processed. Please try again." with the correct username and password. Then on the application it says "MCLeaks ALT-Token has to be 16 chars long!" with my username and password correct again.

Thoughts?

The usage of MCLeaks or AltDispenser tools (which are illegal) have been causing issues for many Minecraft users.

To correct these, remove the tool, and remove all entries containing mojang in your system's hosts file.

To edit your Host file, please do the following: Go to the Start Menu and locate notepad. Right click notepad and select Run as Administrator

Press File, then Open. Enter %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as the "File name" and press "Open"

I am on a Mac, not a PC so would I do the same thing but in Terminal.

First, enable the root user and login to it by following this guide https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204012. Then open the Terminal App in Finder -> Utilities

Then in Terminal, type sudo open -a TextEdit /private/etc/hosts and press enter

I did that, removed all text that said Mojang, but it is still not working. When I reopen the terminal doc the Mojang text is still there.

It says that the hosts file is locked. How do I unlock this?
