So in my single player hardcore world I went to the nether to get potion making supplies and my game started lagging. I logged out and logged back in but when the world reloaded random chunks of blocks (some glowstone and part of a nether fortress were most noticeable) had disappeared, including my nether portal apparently. I wasn't expecting this to happen so I did not bring any extra obsidian to get back. Is there a way to undo the glitch or get back at all or is that world now a lost cause? Is it even a glitch or something else entirely?
Maybe the chunks that had it were corrupted, check with mcedit.
As for how to get back, if you kill yourself you should appear in the nether, just try to save everything in a chest if you have enough wood or drop everything in a place near where your portal was and come back in less than 5 minutes
