When launching the game I get the following error:
The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: No OpenGL context found in the current thread.
This has been happening randomly for the last six months or so. My video card drivers are all up to date and always are as soon as an update is available. I was JUST playing the game last night on the same exact computer with the same exact drivers with the same exact status they are today but today it doesn't work. Tomorrow it will randomly work again and down the road it will start giving me the errors again and stop working for a few hours again. It's never permanent and usually only lasts a few hours but is still annoying when you want to play a game and can't until it chooses to cooperate with you. Anyone have any ideas why this just happens randomly every so often then fixes itself? Looking for a fix so I can stop dealing with these temporary down times.
What will this do differently than updating the drivers as they become available automatically? I'm confused why I need more drivers when it says mine are already up to date.
Probably because you install drivers as soon as they become available.
That is a bad habit.
Its not, its a good one. The nvidia bug its because of bad QA as it was a specific issue with a specific part outside of the main driver and it should been fixed now

These would imply I JUST upgraded my drivers though. I've upgraded my drivers over two weeks ago and it just started happening for the first time again last night. I've restarted the computer numerous times since then too. Shortly after posting this topic it randomly started working again and now today around the same time as yesterday it's not working AGAIN. Literally nothing has been changed and it just randomly chooses to not work sometimes. What is causing this?

faulty drivers, perhaps. Which would be a reason why you shouldn't just go and update drivers right away.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.

And also why did Minecraft work just fine last night (not more than 9 hours ago) without any additional drivers?
You didnt restart after a update, or the install failed for that update

Its was a rare case, you should update your drivers as soon as they release, as they contains performance optimizatiions and bug fixes
