I'm trying to start a server to play with a friend, with a few mods that we both enjoy, but the problem is, i cannot set my IP for the server, when i change it in the server.properties file, the server crashes on startup.
It loads perfectly if I have no IP set, besides hanging on trying to update galacticraf

well, that fixed the crashing, but i still cannot connect using my IP address, are there any other programs besides hamachi and tunngle for this sort of thing?
Edit; I can connect, but my friend cannot. It gives him a connection error
that is the exact page i was getting my info from.
Then it should work from there, you can connect to 127.0.0.1 fine? Check that the private ip is still the same and try to connect to that, if all that works, try to connect to your public ip(thats the one you give to other people)

You have to leave server-ip empty in server.properties
Also, if you want to set it you have to leave it at 192.168.0.10, adding the port just confuses the game as it thinks its a IPv6 address

Hamachi and tungle break it...
Hamachi has been squatting on an IANA-allocated IP block (25.0.0.0/8). As such, Hamachi fundamentally conflicts with the internet itself.
If you are using Hamachi, use a different solution such as proper port forwarding, or a VPN.

The plan is to call my ISP and get the proper ports forwarded, we refuse to use hamachi and tunngle is just as much of a mess
Ask them if they allow servers in your connection too, you dont want to get a surprise letter saying you were disconnected for violating the TOS

Oh they definitely do, i have to call them to get ports forwarded, but, getting the proper port forwarded did not work at all. Still a timeout.
