This new launcher is super super buggy, i cant even load up minecraft or anything with the new launcher, when i click on the icon from the taskbar (desktop icons are bad for your PCs performance), it just opens a window that is white inside and shows absolutely nothing but white, and i cant do anything with it other than close it. Random occasions it will load the normal screen that shows the launch and the adverts, but very very rare does it occur.
Right click the short cut to the launcher and go to properties. Now, make sure it isn't running in compatibility mode such as XP. The new launcher is not compatible with XP. It appears that when some updated to the launcher for some unapparent reason it goes to that mode. I would start there.
Edit: If you deleted that icon from your desktop you may have to go directly to the program location or recreate the taskbar icon. You should; however; be able to rightclick taskbar icon and rightclick the exe again to get to properties (compatibility tab).

I thought that is what I said. Some have reported that after the launcher updated that they had this problem. I wonder if they had the old launcher in compatibility mode when it updates and it keeps that setting for some reason? If I switch my launcher to XP compatibility I get the same white screen until I switch it back.

Windows might run the compatiblity thing if it thinks there was a problem starting the game, people then dont read it and press next next next, and Windows defaults it for some reason to Windows XP
