Well, the best solution would be to get a bigger hard drive.
Even if you set a new folder, the game still uses the appdata folder. I find it really annoying that games just cant keep things locally like they used to. So basically you have to do a system link to redirect the appdata folder to somewhere else so the game wont use the C drive anymore.
The game is saying you dont have enough space in %temp% to save it, something that is on your main drive, so you will have to clean some things from it

Yeah, I wish they kept everything in around the same location.
I moved the .minecraft folder into the same folder as Minecraft exe.I set it so the game uses it from that folder instead of one on the C drive.
But it really sucks that Idon't have any space on the C drive left. But why does it save it to %temp% on the C drive instead of directly to the .minecraft folder?? Thanks for replying though
32GB harddrive wow. you have literally 0 bytes left, I dont think Windows 10 even fits in 32GB. You will have to contact your school IT for help in that one

Last post was inaccurate, I didn't mean for school, it's my personal computer, I use it for studying and such. Obviously use it for Minecraft too. It's the Windows 8.1 edition, not 10.
So I moved the .minecraft folder to my external hard drive and set the location to where it is. Works perfectly.
The reason why is because my computer has no memory left. When I load the game it gives me this error:
Unable to create directory. 1.11.json
Name: 1.11.json
URL: https://launchermeta.mojang.com/mc/assets/1.11/ea7f56173691250e9805db5e3dda2d65b951ede3/1.11.json
Error details: There is not enough space on the disk
Filename on disk: a6b5-cf25-baf3-480a
Path: C:\Users\-----\AppData\Local\Temp\a6b5-cf25-baf3-480a
Exists: file
What I get from this is it doesn't have enough space to save a temporary file. Is there any way I can get it
to save the file directly to the .minecraft folder? If anything is unclear, I'm sorry, I tried my best to explain it.
Thanks!

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.

because %temp% is set to that folder. If you dont have enough space for 100mb files, you seriously need to clean up

I've tried everything to clean up. There's none of my files on my computer, (I moved them all to my external hard drive)
yet there's 0 bytes left.
Can you take a screenshot?

Every time I tried to save a screenshot it said the file is empty. I can't even save a screenshot, so here's what it looks like:
Windows (C:) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .External Drive (E:)
0 bytes free of 21.1 GB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .462 GB free of 465 GB
NTFS
Why your C partition is only 21.1GB? Did you mess with partitions?

I didn't mess with the partitions. That's the entire drive's space.
Drivers are not sold in 21GB configurations

This was a computer I got for school, here's the amazon listing. I've always thought it was weird how it's 21GB though.

Windows 8.1 also doesnt fit in 32GB, they recommend 40/60GB IIRC. Linux should fit fine with space to spare though

I've been using this computer just fine for almost two years, but it suddenly does this about two weeks ago.
