I click on my desktop icon or my start menu icon for Minecraft, I get a loading icon, then nothing. Task manager doesn't show Minecraft even loading up, I've checked compatability, uninstalled & reinstalled. I updated last night, played for like 6 hours and had no problems. Now I cannot even get the menu to load.

Running Java 1.8.0_121

Windows 7 Home Premium

4.00 GB RAM

64 bit OS

I cannot get into the screen to get a crash log or anything. please help.

Update: Running compatibility troubleshooter gives me: MinecraftLauncher is incompatible

Dont run it, it puts Minecraft on compatibility mode with Windows XP and that breaks stuff

I deleted everything aside from saves folder and launcher_log.txt, which cannot be deleted because it is open in the Minecraft launcher...the only thing running atm is my Firefox for this page.

Now right click the shortcut and make sure its doesnt say Windows XP in the compatibility tab

finally got it to open, but now I have 2 fps -.- I don't understand how it was fine at 5 am this morning and not by 12 pm today.

Set the settings to how you had them before. I recommend VBO on, mipmap 0, render distance 8, graphics fast

having some trouble changing the settings. java is up to 900,000 k of usage.

Any mods or resource packs?

nothing additional. everytime I exit the game, after a few days, It will not open again. It is back to doing the same thing, I've had no new installs or updates, nothing additional running.
