In the mean time I guess I just don't play? This is not just affecting the wolfram client it is effecting everything. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothing. This is quite frankly ridiculous.
I'm a Java developer and Linux admin, trust me I know a few things about troubleshooting. The problem is not with java rather with AWS, which is out of our control. They need to fix their S3.

Yup, that doesnt sound like its right, right? Sounds like Wolfram is trying to auto udpate but with the new launcher the way of doing so changed, so its now trying to connect to a URL it doesnt exists? Still sounds like a AWS issue or a Wolfram issue?
We dont help with mods or hacked clients, reinstall using the instructions above

They updated the protocols to force a download for that minecraft version, crashing the game if it doesn't find the required files. In other words they sabotaged hacked clients. Not my fault.

Its your fault for using hacked clients. Minecraft doesnt support mods officially, just allows them to exists.
And hack clients are not a nice thing to do

Is there a reason the client worked yesterday but not today then?
Yes. New launcher rollout. Now, we wont help you till you get rid of Wolfram, and take a screnshot with this thread open of the crash in the official launcher from Minecraft.net/download

Yeah still every modified client I use crashes the game. I find it interesting that we are not seeing widespread reports of this despite the fact that I have installed modded clients on 3 separate computers and gotten the same issues.
Still having the same errors, someone has to know why this is happening?
I have wiped a computer and installed minecraft plus the modded client and get the same issue with the latest version of Java. This is extremely frustrating as it now appears to be an issue with how the launcher interacts with Java, not the client.
In my experience those errors do not mean anything; I get them with my modded versions, which are jar mods (instead of Forge; I even install Optifine as a jar mod, not with its installer) and the game launches without any issues other than those warnings in the game output:
I'm also not sure why the official launcher is trying to reference an invalid site (s3.amazonaws) - that sounds like a launcher bug and/or because it doesn't have the right download URL since I deleted it from the json file so it can't overwrite my modded jar:
My clients were all working fine yesterday, but now it looks like there is an issue with AWS? Can someone please explain how to fix this?

I've already done all of this, it crashes every time.
Wolfram is a hack client, it WILL break something

You say?
Lets see the URL the launcher is trying to connect to https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/Wolfram

It's not a problem with S3. S3 isn't used.

Also that, but lets not help hacked clients apart from reinstalling the game to get rid of them

WE DON'T CARE.
It's a problem with your modded client. Go talk to them about it.
Mojang no longer uses (i.e. pays for) S3 and any 3rd party client that tries to use S3 is BROKEN.

MCL-4334 Minecraft gets reinstalled everytime you launch it
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
