So about a month ago I got a new computer. I hadn't played Minecraft for about 8 months. But whenever I try to connect to a server (after I got my new computer) It says the above error message.

I have pinpointed the problem, though: My wifi. Whenever I play at my dad' house, or on public wifi, I can connect to servers just fine. But at my mom's house, this error message ALWAYS shows up. If it helps, my mom has xfinity comcast wifi. Please help!

EDIT: I used to play Minecraft on my mom's laptop. Minecraft used to work on that laptop but now it doesn't work on either.

My Internet works fine for the web, if that's what you mean. If it didn't, obviously I wouldn't be able to access the forum.

I am going to assume that's a link. Well I typed it into browser and it said:

This site can’t be reached

mctest.ae97.net refused to connect.

Try:

• Checking the connection
• Checking the proxy and the firewall

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I am clueless tech-wise so i have no idea what the "proxy" is, and I know it's not the firewall.

Well I tried the server but it gave me same exact error message.

It's not the computer. Multiplayer(on the same computer) works fine on other wi-fi networks. I'm telling you, it's the wi-fi.
