I have looked around quite a few forums, and it seems that there are no other posts regarding my problem.
The problem is that it seems from launching from the base minecraft launcher, java/minecraft crashes on versions 1.5.2 and earlier. While, anything from 1.6.1 and above work perfectly fine.
Errors that have popped up:
1) Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working (See Figure 1)
-To work around this problem I tried installing the newest x64 bit of java.
-This led to the same error
-Next i redirected the executable java to something different (Specifically in the programfiles\java
-This appears to have gotten me past the orginal error, but produced another crash and the orginal error. (See 2)
-Next i tried downloading an older version of java (Specifically one in the time period of 1.5.2), This was to see if it was possibly something todo with that java was too new. (it was worth a shot)
2) Bad Video Drivers! Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers. (Rest of the error see Figure 2)
-I attempted to work around this problem by going to my Geforce experience control panel and updated the drivers of my GPU
-For reference my GPU is a GTX 970 FTW edition
-This did not resolve the problems
Other Notes:
-Attempting to change anything else would still result in an error of those two. (there may have been a varriation of crashes but was unable to recreate for purpose of documentation).
-A friend of mine has a similar computer build to mine (With slight differences) and is able to run versions of minecraft 1.5.2 and older.
though his build is older than mine.
-All versions 1.6.1 and up all work. Even with my variations of settings.
-The Reason for wanting to play older versions of minecraft is to install the mod: Better than wolves and play with a friend.
-I have also tried using an older version of the launcher, but, this also did not work.
