I'm trying to play an old map that is set for version 1.4.5. However, when I tell the launcher to start up that version, it crashes every time with this message. I do not have any mods loaded, I don't even have a mods folder. I'm not sure what the issue is. Anyone that can help?

Generally speaking I would say that this indicates that there is a problem with your configured game directory.
What have you configured it to, and does it exist?

Thanks for responding!
I never changed it from the default game directory install. When I look at my profile setting, it says the Game Directory is:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
I replaced the <user> portion because that is my name and for privacy reasons. The directory definitely exists, and I have been playing Minecraft on this PC since about version 1.7.
If you have used this same (default) game directory with other versions of minecraft, then it is possible that one of the game configuration options that are stored there is not compatible with that version of minecraft. The selected language for example.
You could either create a profile just for 1.4.5 that starts with a default set of options, or you could erase options.txt from your game directory.
I'd use a different game directory. Just check the box and change the ".minecraft" to ".minecraft145"

Error in your game files. Try a reinstall? http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/guides/reinstalling-minecraft/
Otherwise, Does the path to this .minecraft folder have any special characters in it? (from gerbil) http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/special-characters/

Tried that, made a .minecraft145 directory and a new profile just for that, pointing it there. I still get the same error display. What gives?

Try with java 7? I think java 8 is not supported on older versions

FIXED[/b]
Thanks To Minecraft Forum And All Users
Here is the solution:[/b]
1-[/b] Go: C:\Users\********\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
2-[/b] Delete: options.txt
!! Your All Minecraft Settings Will Gone !![/b]
But you can play every version now
(Why we have to delete this ?)
(Because New Minecraft client and launcher does something to this file, and older versions doesnt accept it.)
