Okay, so I've been trying to install shaders for ever now, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I downloaded optifine, the new 1.11.2 version, I installed it, opened it up with Java, and when I launch my Minecraft, there is no "Optifine" profile option. I've tried, and tried and it won't work. Please help.
I'm probably right, but I didn't do any checking before making this post, so be warned I could be wrong.
There're two ways to install Optifine iirc. The first way is to start with vanilla Minecraft and run the Optifine jar as a program, which will open an installer allowing you to install it by itself.
The second way is to first install Forge, and then simply place that same Optifine jar into your .minecraft/mods folder allowing it to be ran as a Forge mod. Then just run minecraft via your Forge profile in the launcher.
If one way isn't working, try the other.
After Optifine's installed and ran once you should see an empty shaderpacks folder in your .miecraft which is where you'll place the shaderpack zip file. (I recommend Sildurs shaders, they're nice)

You may want to read my post while you still can, some of them have been randomly disappearing lately *cough*
