Since (automatically) updating to 1.11.2 (these version names are confusing) I've been getting a massive drop in game performance with frequent crashes and I can't hop in and out of the game (minimising) nearly as quick as I used to be able to. When restore it (minimised) I get a largely white window with part of the titlebar before the game shows after about a minute or so. Before I could restore it and get back in instantly. Frequently it also crashes for some reason.
My graphics card is quite basic (NVIDIA GeForce GT 820M) but that shouldn't be an issue for Minecraft. One of the things I used to like about Minecraft particularly is the fact that it's very easy to drop in and out of it at will without issues which tends to be less easy with a lot of fullscreen games (Assassin's Creed, The Sims).
Anyone else getting this?
I could try copy pasting the log here next time it crashes though I didn't notice any notable reports, just logging what I did in game (e.g. commands).

Curse PremiumIntel CPU's sometimes have integrated graphics built into them. Which minecraft seems to favor. Mind posting a DxDiag for us please http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/pixel-format-not-accelerated/support/
Changing to your Nvidia GPU.

Hello, thanks for your reply. Sorry I didn't reply back earlier, I wasn't aware I had a response to my post. I'm trying the options you mentioned.
