I want to be able to switch between creative and survival. I have turned cheats on but keep getting message "can't execute command" Can anyone help?

/ gamemode 0

/ gamemode 1

did you try removing the space, so instead of / gamemode, it says /gamemode? If you are already doing that, it may be a bug. Also try /gamemode s (or /gamemode c) and /gamemode survival (or /gamemode creative)

/gamemode 0 for survival

/gamemode 1 for creative

Note that there is no space
