I was raiding a woodland mansion on my survival world, and then the game froze and my Computer actually CRASHED and went to an odd blue screen of death Not even a message.... It usually says "Oops! we ran into a problem ;(" but instead it was just a bunch of random symbols. and then when I went back to my minecraft, just to see my world GONE. I was playing on this world for so long... months... just... all gone, forever.... HOW AM I GONNA FIX THIS?! MY WORLD IS GONE! I didn't even backup my world.... I need help! how am I gonna get my world back? is the world save just gone...?
NOTE: sometimes I will solve forums myself. so I may delete this forum.
Download and install that, and when you run it, filter it to only search in the Users/*your user name*/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/saves directory so it doesn't take a long time.
The reason these "undelete" software programs can work is because deleted stuff is only marked as deleted so far as Windows is concerned, but it's still digitally there on the drive itself. Once Windows supposed "deletes" it though, since it's marked as gone, it may be overwritten in the future. The chance of this happening basically goes up in time, so it's best to act quickly and hope that no part of your save has been overwritten. If it's still there, the software will be able to recover it, but if it's been partly or fully overwritten, then it's gone.
Actually if you look in the saves folder the world probably is still there, it just got corrupted from the crash and Minecraft no longer recognizes it as a world.
One thing you can do on Windows is try right clicking the world folder and select 'restore previous versions' from the drop down list. Hopefully it will list some backed up version from prior to the crash that you can restore to recover your world. You will lose any changes you made to the world after the date of the backup though.
Well, A weirder thing happened, the world is THERE. but all the builds, and my inv, ETC. is gone. and it's called "My World" so I think it got corrupted. so I don't think the world save, (I opened the save from the Edit world options) got deleted, but the saves inside of the file got deleted... This is even more strange, and I noticed The world (Epic survival of awesomeness) is still there in the "saves" folder. so it duplicated?! What in the world...

I did not backup the world, and also it says "No previous versions available" so... :L
ANYTHING is possible when it comes to data corruption. In a completely unrelated program (zmud, it was a scriptable MUD client), I've had whole features totally changed to the point that the author actually took a look at the piece of code related to the issue I was describing and detailed line-by-line how it worked...there was absolutely no way for it to have been doing what I was describing but I was seeing it done anyways.

Diamonds ftw.
First, avoid using any program on your computer as much as possible until you can get the world back.
Here's a post that might help you:
Afterwards, if you can't get the world to work, you may be able to use the Corrupted Save Recovery Thread.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

Like I said, you can try sending the corrupted world to the official corrupted save recovery thread.

How do I "Send" the world?
And, please look at my other comment, It says that the world duplicated possibly?
Diamonds ftw.
You would need to zip the world folder, then upload the zip file online to a file sharing host. I use Mediafire, but there are many others.
As for files getting duplicated, never heard of that, don't even see how that is possible.

I don't get how or why it duplicated the world with the exact same seed...
Diamonds ftw.
