I just built these essence seed crops and after coming back to look at what they returned i only got 6 essence seeds from them and not nearly enough essence to make more and fully repopulate my crops. Is this a bug or some kind of balancing thing?
MFR doesn't recognize Magical Crops as a crop. No idea if this is intentional or not, but it is. Ender IO farming station is a decent substitute and generally the one used.

If the Agricraft crop sticks are included in the pack you are playing, you can cross-breed two of the same plant and it makes a new plant of the same type, an easy way to get new seeds. Also if you grow the crops on crop sticks you don't have to replant after harvest.
