I started a new world.. and hadn't saved quit yet.. and my game crashed.. and now my save isnt showing up in game but its showing up in appdata... any tips? help? anyone had this happen to them before?
Thanks for the response.. but these steps do not fix it.. maybe i should have given more info.. i have others saves that i can see... its just this one that i cannot
If it still not works, the only way is to reinstall Minecraft with settings set to Default, means that don't change anything while you are opening the exe file from minecraft.net
A save won't show up if the level.dat file is corrupted, which can happen if minecraft doesn't exit cleanly.
Other files could also be corrupted due to the crash, i.e. you could have bad chunks that cause poor performance, or weird problems in game.
If you want to proceed anyway, you should first copy the entire save to make a backup, then you can try copying level.dat_old to level.dat
This will "undo" some game state. Your location and your inventory will revert at least. And this won't fix any other corrupted files that are in your save. The tool mcedit can be used to fix some kinds of corruption.....

1. Open Minecraft launcher
2.Click on edit profile at the left down corner.
3. Click the arrow that says Game directory (If the arrow is not tick.)
4.Open Windows Explorer and type %appdata% at the line above then open .minecraft
5,. Copy the text above.
6. Go back to the Minecraft launcher then paste it at the line that says Game directory.
7. Click Save profile below then close the Minecraft launcher and Windows Explorer.
These are the steps to fix it.
