So I've been trying to run Minecraft but I can only run it at 1.6.4. Anything further than that gets me:

I'm planning on submitting a bug report, but I want the approval of you guys first. I'm running an Optiplex 745 with Windows 7 and an Intel Core 2 Duo. If it helps, I'm able to run other games (TF2, etc) with a special config.
However based on the model of your computer, it may be worth following the instructions here http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/pixel-format-not-accelerated/support/#dxdiag and getting the log or link to the log the instructions have you make. If the model number you listed is correct its possible you have a version of that hardware that can be dealt with.

EDIT: A dxdiag pastebin because it can help. http://paste.ubuntu.com/23673848/
Based strictly on the error you have hardware that will only support up to version 1.7.2 of the game. More info can be found on that issue here http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/references/intel-4-series-chipsets/
So, get a new computer? I have a few old comps that are sitting around, maybe see if I can get those fixed.
Also, I edited the post with the dxdiag.

Curse PremiumThere is nothing you can do with older PC's running Intel 4 series. You must get newer hardware to be able to play 1.7.10+.
Former everything.
How to get dxdiag
