My new laptop always played MC great. Recently started to get jerky and freeze.
My frame rate goes from 60 to 0 while playing. MC is using 100% of mem. F3 shows Mem 1011mb, allocated 923mb. I don't get it. My new laptop is Intel [email protected] w/16 gb RAM and GeForce 970M graphics.
go into minecraft launcher, click edit profile down in the left corner, look at JVM arguments at the bottom then look for something like -Xmx1G then replace the 1 with a bigger number and click save profile and you should be good to go
That means you are using your nvidia GPU. Getting the best performance, that is an issue with running nvidia GPU's but can be fixed bu goggling you issue.
you fixed the issue but I just want to put this out there as an extra tip, always leave at least two gigs of ram unused: so if you have 8 gigs of ram only allocate 6

Allocating for ram to Minecraft doesn't solve every problem. As Minecraft can run fine with 1GB allocated the minimal (recommend) for unmodded.
Adding more can cause more problems then less. Java as is has a hard time processing larges amounts of memory. Minecraft doesn't need 6GB of ram allocated to it if its unmodded. But even if its modded to use 6GB it would have to be heavily.

Can I fix this by increasing the MC up from the 1011mb shown? How do I do this?

^^
If 1G, change to 2G.
If 1024M, change to 2048M.

Great. I'll try it. I notice memory use creeps up the longer I play, but don't know why.
Jim
Worked great.
Thanks

Curse PremiumYour using a Laptop. Most laptops have integrated graphics, be sure your using the Nvidia Card and not the integrated.
Former everything.
How to get dxdiag
I have both options in the Nvida Control panel set to auto-select (recommended).
When I set them to NVida only, I got funny little lines at the edges of the MC blocks. Especially annoying when on water.

Yes I was just giving general advice, not just to mc since you need to have 2 gigs free for every application, I thought I would just put it out there
