I had Minecraft for years, but my computer crashed and I had to reinstall Windows. Unfortunately, we have the world's worst internet service provider, Frontier, and lately at BEST we've been getting a download speed of about 0.02Mbps (even though it uploads at a speed about 35x higher, wth?). Just getting to this page to post took 17 minutes.
It's sadly the only ISP available where I live (a farm town in the middle of the woods), so there's no nearby public wifi either.
But on to my point, whenever I try to download Minecraft it just times out after a few minutes since my connection is garbage. I should have just enough connection to sign into the launcher to validate my account for playing, but downloading the launcher, updating the launcher, then especially downloading any recent version of the game itself, is just completely undoable.
The only thing I have that can use the internet is my phone. So is there any way to download Minecraft onto my phone and copy everything from there to my computer? Or some app for Android that can LEGALLY let me use my 4G connection from my computer? I'd even settle for someone creating a new installation and uploading it somewhere for me to download. I can't stand the Windows 10 Edition and I just want to play the game.
Is there any way to get it without downloading straight to the computer?
you can use your phone as a modem for the computer to connect to the internet so thelauncher can download what it needs, most phones have the option, on the samsung s7 its under mobile hotspot and tethering
getting the files from anywhere else would be against Mojangs T&Cs and against this forums rules so not to be discussed here
or if you have a laptop you could use that to access another internet, like school, library etc, download and run the launcher, then when you get home copy the .minecraft folder from the laptop to pc
