So a couple days ago, I got a new GTX 1080 (GB G1 gaming cause windforce), and naturally, the first thing I try is Minecraft, and Minecraft with shaders.
Aaaand it was pretty lackluster With the same settings I ran before on an R9 270x 2gb card (1.10, optifine, 16 chunks, max settings and no AA), I'd max around 130 FPS without shaders (around the same as before), and somewhat paultry max of 70 frames, dipping into low 40's with SEUS ultra (a bit better than before, but not much)
These are my usages whilst running SEUS ultra shaders, on a local world, in 1080p, fullscreen:
(Leftmost side percentages are current, min, max in that order)
It doesn't seem like anything should be bottlenecking me, and ram shouldn't either; I have 8gb dedicated to the game, of my 16.
These are my full specs:
FX-6300 6-Core @4.3GHZ oc
(inb4 anyone says this will bottleneck me, yes, I am aware of that. I found the 1080 on a great sale, and decided to go for it before I upgrade everything else later, to a 5820k among other things.
G1 Gaming GTX 1080 8gb
16gb DDR3-1600
Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD (MC and Windows are on this)
2 other 7200rpm HDD's
500w EVGA Bronze PSU
For reference, I can max GTA V and keep a solid 60FPS, as well as Titanfall 1 and 2, Mechwarrior Online, and R6Siege among other games, so I wouldn't think my CPU is bottlenecking me.
I'm on the latest NVidia drivers, and the latest Java.
I have not changed any settings inside NVidia control panel, aside from contrast and such (first team green card I've had, haven't 100% figured out the settings yet)
Is there anything I can do about this? Or is MC just really that poorly optimized that literally nothing will run it with shaders well.
And if so, how is stuff like this absolutely beautiful insanity possible, on a 970 as well?
The only things his build has over mine are the CPU, however, mine barely ever goes above 50%, so I'm not sure that's it.
