i am too much of a noob for this tbh. I know this is sort of a server connection issue but it's a problem I'm having with both the modded and unmodded clients since other folks have been able to connect. If it's the wrong forum, I do apologize.
Anyhow - I picked up a server on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale to play on with friends and the like. A few mods, nothing super heavy duty. Turn the server on to make sure it all runs right and I get this error:
Failed to connect to the server
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1
Message the server support guys, we try a few mod packs (Project Ozone and FTB Infinity Evolved), get the same error but with looking at the server console logs, it never even shows that I'm actually trying to log into the server. However, the support person logs into the server without issue. A friend of mine also logs into the server without issue too.
It's either my client or my network and I have no idea - again too much of a noob. I have tried to connect to the server with the standard vanilla client and the Curse client to no avail. Single player works fine. Haven't tried LAN yet since the other minecraft account holder forgot his password and hadn't merged yet. Right now the server and client are both set to 1.11:
