I just got a alienware 17 r4 and at first I got 250-350 fps max settings and now a day later I'm getting 60-90 fps max settings. I have my max fps on unlimited
Specs
Gtx 1070 (8 Gb)
16 Gb ram (at 2667 MHz)
99 wh ion battery
1 Tb hard drive
intel core i7 quad core 6mb up to 3.5 ghz w turbo boost
lithium ion (99 Wh)
I have also noticed a fps decrease in other games, such as Subnatica.
As you have a laptop, its likely that your computer switched to your integrated GPU hardware.
You need to set it so that both Minecraft and Java use your Nvidia hardware all the time. The following link has info on how to set programs to use that hardware. It also has instructions on how to add programs to the list, if Minecraft and Java dont show up at first.
