Hi all! I'm having some extreme lag issues with my minecraft, and was wondering if anyone could help somehow. When unplugged, my laptop runs at about 30fps, once I plug it in, that drops down to around 4fps. Normally this wouldn't be an issue and I would just play unplugged. But this laptop is old and the battery barely works. If someone else is having this issue, or you have had this issue in the past and found a way to solve it, please reply!
I already have, the computer does have enough power to not lag, it runs at 30 to 60fps while on battery power. If I plug it in to charge, it drops to around 4fps.
when you plug it in the laptop reconfigures the power options according to your power plan settings. It is something in there that causes your performance change

Dell Inspiron N040
4GB Ram
Intel Core I3 2.3Ghz
Intel HD Graphics
Minecraft 1.11 Optifine
The biggest tip I can give you is you can try to dedicate 2GB of ram to your minecraft Launcher and see if that helps.
The computer is very old and there is not enough power to give you lag free experience.

I just figured it out, it was the weirdest thing. Thanks for your suggestions though!
If you have lots of lag make sure to use optifine.
