I'm actually asking this on behalf of my son who has an old map he wants to play. It's made for 1.5.2 but every time he tries to launch the older version, Minecraft crashes and says this in the crash report text file:
---- Minecraft Crash Report ----
// Hey, that tickles! Hehehe!

This is a completely vanilla install, no forge, no mod, just an old map he downloaded and wanted to play. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks! I'll give that a try tonight after work. I honestly don't know what the name of the map is he was trying to run so hopefully that'll do the trick.

This error is generally this issue: http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/special-characters/
But I would expect it to affect all maps, unless this map is in a game directory whose path has one of these characters in it.
