I was trying to move my .minecraft file on to a jump drive so that I could have it on my new laptop, but I accidentally dropped it somewhere on my computer and now I can't find it. A new .minecraft file has appeared in the Roaming folder and it doesn't have any of my saves or anything. I'm not sure how to get my old .minecraft file back. I've tried using the restore previous versions on the new file, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Click on "Start" menu (Windows icon) then type "minecraft" on search bar and look for ".minecraft" folder.
It doesn't show up there. Not even the new .minecraft folder.
Try searching again and click "See more results".
It still doesn't show up
If you accidentally dropped it outside windows, then it may be on destktop or in folder.
