The server I play on just updated to 1.11, but when I logged on no sounds play and the good old F3+T trick didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft and now there are no sounds in any version of Minecraft. I noticed I had no resources folder so I had a friend send it to me, but it's still not playing anything. When I checked the logs and it was line after line of [Client thread/WARN]: Missing sound for event: minecraft:block.chest.open for pretty much every sound. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Run the program, choose "I accept", then "Do a scan and save a log file". After a while a text file will open. Copy everything, put the log on http://paste.ubuntu.com dont forget to enter something/anything in the Poster Box, then hit the Paste! button on that page. Give us the link to the page it takes you to in a reply.
Hmm nothing jumping out as an issue right away from the report. Try reinstalling the games local content by doing the following.
Press your Windows+R keys, type in %AppData% at the dialog, and press Enter. In the window that appears, open the .minecraft directory, and delete everything except for the saves directory that you see therein. Then, try running Minecraft again. Good luck!

"Sounds" like something is causing the game not to retrieve the sound files and possibly other things.

I gave it a shot, but there's still no sound.
Follow the instructions here: http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/pixel-format-not-accelerated/support/#dxdiag
Either post the link it has you create in a reply, or just post the log itself in the reply(use code/spoiler tags).

You may be missing your audio drivers as well as some others. You should be able to get them on the Dell support page for your laptop model.
Took a while and I'm not sure what driver it was or if that even was the problem, but it's working now. Thanks for the help.
