Your windows version won't change whether or not you get viruses (unless you're running good luck), so no, no viruses. You can use the curse client as NJM suggested, or just Forge and Forge mods (from these forums, preferably) for modding, same as ever.
Well heres the thing, I'm trying to download the original java version of minecraft on my windows 10 PC. Now to be clear, I DO NOT WANT THE WINDOWS 10 EDITION BETA! It's basically a lot like pocket edition, which i don't want. What I'm asking since I'm looking for the original version is, do I just click the "Windows" tab to download the original version, or do I click the "Windows 10" tab. Is there a java version for win 10 there?

The windows version work fine on windows 10. Windows 10 Edition is separate from the normal PC version of the game, and updating to Windows 10 will not disable you from playing the "normal" version
As long as you have Java and all the appropriate graphics drivers installed, minecraft should work just fine. Windows 10 won't stop you from playing the Java version nor will it force you to play the windows 10 exclusive version.

Thank you both! I do have a proper gaming PC. It's the Apache PRO gaming laptop. I was told it could handle games the best of any laptop, but I want to play minecraft on it the most. Thanks to everyone who helped me out!

I need to know if I can run Minecraft PC on Windows 10. I want to know if it is sketchy for my computer or not before I download it.
Works perfectly fine. I went from 8-8.1-10, and played MC on each version, no problems whatsoever.
You may, however, wish to check that everything in your PC supports Win10, as that could affect whether or not MC (and a lot of things) work.

So, I could download it without worrying about viruses?
And what about if I mod it? Is there any safe way for me to do that?
The minecraft forum is one way to download mods though the Curse client is probably the best or at least the easiest.

Anyplace else is might be a bit sketchy.

Alright, thank you guys so much!
One last question, when I go to download it, which link do I click to download it? Do I just click the regular "Windows" tab?
Minecraft will run on MOST Windows OS.
Your question confuses me

Yes.
You get the Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows store, Java Minecraft from Mojang's Website.
Get the Windows exe.
