I cannot have Java on my computer for certain reasons, and I tried to install Forge but it didn't work. Is there some way to install Forge without Java? I've found that it's possible to install Optifine and Shaders without Forge, but it turns out these methods require Java too. If Forge can't be installed manually, what about these mods?
MC runs on Java. Its programmed with Java. So, yes, you need Java to play MC. MC loads a version of Java w/o having to install the full program. Sounds like you have MC already installed? If so, you have Java installed, which also means you should be able to install Forge. I assume your using Windows, so download the Installer-win file of Forge for the version of MC your using. That file will self-install.

Ok... In that case, my Java is probably outdated. I'm going to check. ^.^
Never mind. I use a Mac, and apparently Java should appear in System Control, which is where you update it. But it's not there.
